Parents Night Out - January 20th

All hockey families and friends are invited to join us for our annual Parents Night Out.  It is always a fun night where the only ice is in a glass.

We will be having this years party at Long Meadow Golf Club in Lowell on Saturday, January 20th from 7pm until 11pm.    There are no NFL football playoff games, UMass Lowell hockey is out of town, and teams don't have any games that night either.   Hopefully many of the families can come out for some appetizers, music, dancing, and beverages of your choice (cash bar).

Tickets are available at the door if you haven't bought already.

Cost is just $10 per person.

Massachusetts State Hockey Tournament

Many Greater Lowell Hawks teams decide to participate in the Massachusetts State Hockey Tournament.   We will update information about the tournament here.

For more information please see the Mass Hockey Tournament Website.

Here are a couple key things to know as it relates to our program:

  • DISTRICT - We are in District 10.  Each district gets to send a team at each Level/Size/Tier to compete in State Tournament.   Teams in district include Cambridge, Melrose, Stoneham, North Reading, Tewksbury, Malden, Reading, Wakefield, Medford, Somerville, Wilmington, and Greater Lowell.
  • LEVEL - States exist for Squirts (10U), Peewee (12U), Bantam (14U), and Midget (18U).  There is no Mite division.
  • SIZE - We are considered a "SMALL" program and get paired up against other "SMALL" programs.  This is based upon average number of players at Squirt, Peewee, and Bantams being 29 or less.
  • TIER
    • The top team from each of our league age groups will play at the "Tier 2" level.   (Ex. Squirt 1's, Bantam 1's)
    • The second team from each of our league age groups will play at the "Tier 3" level. (Ex. Squirt 2's, Bantam 2's)

To qualify for States you need to either:

  1. Be the only team in your district at your Level/Size/Tier or
  2. Win Play-Down Tournament -- matchup of all disctict team at Level/Size/Tier

GLYSA Team Statuses  (UPDATED 01/08/18)

  • Midget 1A - Lost in Semi-Finals to Charlestown at Gallo Arena, Cape Cod (Nov 19)
  • Midget 1B - Lost in District on Sunday, October 15
